I planned to have my violin looked at today. It has a big crack running it. I had put off having it looked at since last term holidays which was like more than 2 months ago. Today I decided that by hook and by crook I would have it looked at. The main problem is that I've no idea where the shop was and I do not know how to get there by bus. Wahaha... I only know how to walk and walking to Dominion Rd is NOT easy. It's one of the longest roads here. So I decided to go with a friend who is an expert on buses.
Went to midcity to take a bus. Ok... Bus number 258. MUST REMEMBER!!! If not I really don't know how to pick up my violin lolz... Went to Dominion Rd. I asked the bus driver does the bus go past Balmoral or not. He says yes. I was like... Err... Ok... The bus driver must have sensed my uncertainty. He say that he would call out when we reached Balmoral. I was like "Thannkk youuu!!" He was sooo nice and patient.
We reached Balmoral... We looked around. Hmm... Where to find that shop??!! I've never been out of Auckland City with my friends... Blurrr... So look up and down, left and right. Don't know where we are. Ok... Start walking down the road, occasionally spotting a number. The first time we spotted one was 625!! WOW! The shop I'm looking for is at 863... 200 more shops and houses to go... It's going to be a really long walk. Walk walk walk... At least got 10 minutes, then suddenly spotted 862!! Yea! Reaching there soon. Walk next door, eh why the number is 864?? Where is 863?? Walk further... Ai?? 124?? Apa ni?? Hahah... Had to walk back to the shops and ask them. The Indian lady was so nice. When she knew I was looking for the violin shop, she directed me. Ok... That should be sufficient enough but heck, I still was blurr... I was supposed to looked for some HB sign and a shop that has lots of guitars. Ok... Walk down the road, went past 880, then 886... I felt like screaming "WHERE THE HECK IS THAT SHOP??" Then my friend noticed that the side of our road are all even numbers and the opposite are all odd numbers. I also spotted the the sign "Guitars" pointing to the opposite side of the road. Then I saw the shop. It was quaint and sweet. I knew violin shop would be upstairs as the add was said "Upper Room 863 Balmoral Dominion Rd." Went up and I saw this shop full of violins and also guitars. Saw an old guy talking to some customers and a young lady was looking expectantly at me. I told her about my case and the lady had another guy in the workshop to take a look at it.
The old guy was apparently listening to what I was saying and he said, "Don't cry..." I was like... I'm not crying ler... Then the lady told me that it would take around a week and $200 to repair my violin. I was not sure whether to have it repaired here or to bring it back to Malaysia for repair as it is so much cheaper. So I decided to call home. My dad picked up the phone and I was like "Daddy, ask mummy whether to have the violin repaired here, it will cost around $200." My mum say ok. Have it repaired here. So my dad was asking, you have money right?? I say yup, then I hung up quickly because I was using my friend's handphone.
After calling my parents, I wanted to leave but he old man told me that he wanted to have a talk with me. OH NO!!! He asked me to tell him what happened to the violin and I told him. Halfway through it I started crying... (I've no idea why) He was so sweet, he handed me a hankie and told me that it's not my fault and he is there to fix it. He is a Christian and a very nice one. So much like a grandpa to me. Ok. My grandparents were never very affectionate so this is a whole new experience. He said that once I stepped into the shop he knew there was something wrong and he can help me fix it. He also said that God has led me to this shop so he will try his best to fix up my violin. Thank God.
I really thank the Lord for leading me to that shop. My teacher had originally recommended that shop but I never really went and find it because it was really far. I had prefered somewhere nearer home but at last I still chose to go there. God's plan?
At least my China friends would be interested in Christianity. It would be hard, leading them to the Lord but cross my fingers, it would be a sucessful one. Heheh...
*Who the heck is sien liau bueh! I don't bite and don't kill. I know who I am. Who are you?
Worked my nerves up when I wanted to call the shop. Heheh... Some of you would know. I pestered Ling Tung til he lost his head with me and ordered me to call the damn shop. Then I couldn't dial the last number so I called my friend and she was like... Ceh... Such a small thing. Call me when it is something big lolz... BUT I've a phobia calling someone and it's BIG!
